Visual Review - Photoshoot 04-05
Photoshoot 04
This is an image from my photoshoot 4. I like this photo as it encapsulates an innocent child playing in public. This photo allowed me to portray emotion connections between people. It also led me to my conclusion piece for this photoshoot where I was able to use this image to contrast the more negative aspects of life. Creating a more compelling narrative. This image also reflects an emotional and physical journey that I aimed to present through my “people and places” project.
From my photoshoot 4 I think that this photo could have been improved. My aim for this image was to take inspiration from Nick Turpin with his photo called “Street Hard Hats”. Portraying class differences within society. However, I think the composition of this image is too hectic and detracts attention from the main message. If I were to take this image again, I would ensure that the background of the image is less chaotic. I would also aim to have both people passing each other at the same time to create a more direct comparison.
Photoshoot 05
This is one of my favourite photos from this shoot as the cool tones in the uniform of the workers creates an industrial feel to the image. I like this image as I took inspiration from Nick Turpin’s project “On The Night Bus” by taking the image through a glass window. I think this candid photo responds directly to theme “people and places” as it showcases two people interacting with each other as well as interacting with the space around them. I like this image particularly as it explores the emotional connection between the two workers. I hope to continue this style of candid photography to capture a moment in time in the next unit of my GCSE.
Although I do like this image, I think that it is not fully on theme with the rest of the photoshoot. Although the idea behind this image was to capture the women on the bus in her isolation, I think that this is lost in the image. I will aim through my edits to highlight the woman and bring attention to her. Hopefully then I will be able to emphasise her journey as she commutes back from work.
Going forwards, I would like to continue to capture class differences as well as continuing to capture snapshots of emotion and connections. I would like to start to experiment with harsh rustic structures building on my use of architecture and leading lines.
